Final weathering
You can see in these images that the base colours have been weathered using a very thin mix (85% thinner:15% paint) using Tamiya flat Buff for the mix. The very light mix is sprayed randomly all over the airframe, paying particular attention to some of the more exposed panels – there’s no great science to this but this is the first of a couple of weathering stages.
Out with your graphite pencil
You can see here where I’ve applied the pencil – around the exposed leading edges of the engine nacelle and around some of the panels. The effect is carried on around the canopy sills and fuselage sides near where the crew would access their aircraft. There’s a useful HD video demo on applying paint chips and scuffs in your Techniques Bank here.
