Detail painting
The detail painting of the main chassis was tackled next covering the jack, spare tracks, pry bar and aerial mount and again when dry the first filter was applied all over the model. This is Mig P246 Grey for Bright Green applied with a No 6 round brush making sure that it is applied evenly and not allowed to pool around detail like a wash. This is the first stage of the weathering and once dry it has begun to tie the colours together and also to tone them down.
Wheels
The wheels were the next items to be dealt with in that the tyres were given three coats of Lifecolor Tyre Black allowing each to dry before applying the next. This was done with a number 2 round brush and each wheel was mounted on a cocktail stick which had the pointed end cut off to achieve a good fit. By holding the cocktail stick between thumb and forefinger the wheel can be rotated allowing the thinned paint to run around the tyre side and then painting the circumference in the same manner. Thin coats of paint are better than one thick application.
I next brush painted the inside surfaces of the side skirts with Lifecolor German Red Oxide as this can be seen when looking down from the top of the model.
