The next item to be glued in place was the driver’s front plate which required some trimming and finally a little filler.
The driver’s compartment was missing a dashboard, so a piece of card was cut to the correct length and five holes punched into it, then another piece was cut and glued behind it. Dials were painted black, the dash a medium grey and when all was dry the dials were detailed with white and red paint. Gloss varnish was then used to partly fill the dial holes allowed to dry and then the dash was fitted. Very little of the interior can be seen but as the saying goes we know it’s there.
Looking at the hatches they overlapped on one side and investigation determined that the LHS wall was shorter than required. Plastic card was cut and glued to the inside wall which extended it to be level with the rear wall of the engine compartment. A second piece was cut and glued at an angle and allowed to set. Once this had been achieved Apoxie Scupt was mixed and filled the gap and when it had dried overnight was sanded and polished with different grades of sanding sticks.
