The gun
The next was the gun and it was noted from the assembly drawing showed various sprues with the same letters from the different kits that make up some of this kit, so caution was needed.
The barrel was in four parts with the muzzle break and a two part barrel and the parts went together well with a little clean up but the rear two sections of the main gun barrel were joined but the forward section was not joined at this point.
The breech was the next sub-assembly to be completed being made up of seven parts. They were all cleaned up before assembly with little to no trouble.
The cradle was next to get the build started – the base needed some surgery by removing the front section. This was then detailed with three parts before the sides of the cradle were made up. The left hand side was made up of the upright (D9) to which the sight assembly, seat and the elevation wheel parts were fixed in place. The left hand side was built ups per the drawing but looked wrong as was the case. Part D15 was shown being fitted to a hole in the side of the cradle but this was wrong as the part with the wheel fixed to it should fit to the side. On examination of a dry fit the long rod should fit across the back of the cradle.
The rear barrel sub-assembly, the cradle, recuperates and part p27 were then built up and put to one side to dry. The two pistons marked D2/D53 which are fitted between the gun and cradle.
