The Build
After the problem with the wheel internal poly caps of my previous Meng T-90 build, it was nice to have poly caps of the correct size!
One of Meng’s features of their tank kits is the faithful reproduction of a working torsion bar suspension. Their AMX-30B2 is no different. These are the components of one of the kits 4 hydraulic shock absorbers. Pictured above is a completed unit.
Meng utilises the same parts for their AMX-30 boxing and this means the B2 has some minor modifications required which are clearly indicated in the instructions. Here a small inspection panel on the rear plate has to be removed using a sharp blade and sanding stick.
Here, the first of the torsion bars has been fitted with its linkage.
The torsion bar end sits in a recess to which a drop of liquid cement is applied.
There are slight differences to some of the torsion bars. I found the easiest way to fit them was to start at the rear and work forward with one eye on the instructions!
