Meng supply a metal mask for the wheels. I normally prefer to hand paint the rubber on wheels but here I did use the mask. Although quicker than hand painting I found it a bit of a “faff” to use.
A considerable amount of the 1300 or so parts go to make up the lovely detailed tracks. Once again, Meng provide a jig for the construction process. (A detailed construction of these tracks can be found in my previous T-90A Build). The tracks are painted with a Mix of Tamiya dark Iron with a thin overspray of Tamiya Hull Red, Matt Black with a drop of Aluminium. Here, SnJ Polishing powder (Unfortunately no longer available) is being dusted on to the areas of wear.
The wheels and tracks have been fitted. Note the effective sag in the track due to the clever construction process.
The top hull is a solid one piece construction which fits perfectly to the lower hull.
The casemate is constructed from 5 parts which fit neatly to the lower hull via tabs and slots.
Once again, clamps are required to ensure the correct fitment of the ERA Blocks to the front Glacis plate.
The fenders exhibit three large protrusions that need to be removed to allow correct fitment of these parts.
