As with the Shilka build I used the rather excellent Mig Ammo “Modern Russian Colors” set. These spray beautifully with a little of Mig’s own thinner added. The Green Khaki base coat has been applied and the Oil Ochre camouflage is being applied free-hand.
Matt black from the range has also now been applied and several misted coats of Future/Klear to protect the finish for the decaling and weathering process.
I did have slight problem trying to settle the decals into conforming to the surface. Copious amounts of Micro Set and Sol finally bullied them into submission!
I decided from the outset that I would keep the weathering to a minimum. First in the weathering process is to apply a wash of Abteilung brown wash my favourite because of its fine pigment. To highlight the effectiveness of this wash; here I have applied it to the turret only. This was followed by a pin wash of Abeilung Black.
The last bit of weathering was to load my airbrush with a very thinned amount of Tamiya Buff sprayed on and around the lower part of the hull.
Time for a base…
I made a simple base from a cheap picture frame. The groundwork was a pre-made item from a company called Model Scene. It was simply trimmed to size and secured in place with white glue. The name plate was then cut from the Meng box and again affixed to the base with white glue.
