Short Feature Article by Bill Curtis
Intro thoughts…
I was looking for a build that would be quick, easy and with a colour scheme and weathering that would push some boundaries in the finishing. A look around the stash came up with this kit which had been part-built and put to one side.
This short feature article is very much a focus on the painting, weathering and finishing – not the build that is very straightforward, not least because this is a Tamiya kit!
The build
The build is as per the instruction sheet with the exception of not fitting the wheels, barrel or the tracks as this will help with the painting of all parts and the application of mud and dust on the lover hull. Even though this is an old kit the build is straightforward and the only addition was the engine deck meshes from an aftermarket set.
The Model was then washed in warm soapy water which was allowed to dry over night. A couple of coats of light grey Mr Surfacer primer were applied allowing it to dry between coats.
