Missiles painted
I painted the 6 missiles all white then masked off the front sections of them and painted the rear halves red. These were then added to the pylons with a drop of superglue.
Airbrakes – open or closed?
I decided on having the airbrakes open at the back just to make this area busier and to add to the finished model, a very simple mechanism and a nice fit! At this point I added the arrestor hook after painting it white and then adding the black stripes with an OH-pen.
As for the pitot tube this requires some careful painting and masking as it resembles a barbers pole! Firstly the pitot was painted white and when dry I added some 1mm tape to it then painted in the red stripes. Once dry the tape was carefully removed to reveal a nice striped result.

Wheels and finishing touches
The wheels are up next, firstly the hubs were all sprayed with Alclad Aluminium and then I hand painted the tyres with XF-85 Rubber Black. Once dry these are fitted to the landing gear legs.
The finishing touch is to add the pitot tube and the canopy hood which I’ve added open again as the fit wasn’t very good closed.
Conclusion
A very nice kit from the new kids Meng Models – a few bits are a bit of a challenge but nothing that should put you off buying one. As it stands now there are lots of new decal sheets available with some eye-catching ANG colour schemes to choose from. Would now like to see a 48th or even a 32nd scale kit!
