The Bridge aerials and spreaders were assembled and fitted next following the instructions provided in the WEM set and my references including the remaining kit parts, range finders and stereoscopic sites. The range finder/directors were angled out on the Portside of the ship as the finished model would have her main and secondary armament swung out to Port.
Weapons – main turrets:
I replaced the gun barrels for these with turned brass examples from ABER. This was very simple; just remove the barrels from the kit part they’re molded onto part A-15. After cleaning up the remaining part, glue it into place inside the turret and when dry test fit the brass barrel and drill a 1mm diameter hole into A-15 for each barrel. Moving on to the rest of the turret parts, the rangefinders parts A-10 & A-11 were glued into place. Next the molded vertical ladders were carefully sanded smooth and replacement etch examples cut and glued into place. The Main Turrets of both Rodney and Nelson had hand rails alongside the edge of the walkways on roof of them; this was made from the railings supplied in the detail set.
