This series by Kagero is well known to scale modellers and having just secured a copy of this title I wanted to bring you a short review to illustrate what this great series of books from Kagero Publishing has to offer.
In a nutshell, this is what you get:
- soft cover
- 112 pages
- 2 X A4 sheets of 1:72 scale drawings
- paint schemes
- 86 archive photos
- 78 colour close up detail renders (like profiles but showing detail areas of the aircraft, especially the interior)
- A4 format
- matt coated paper
- high quality paper
This is what Casemate has to say to describe this book:
“Part two of the monograph on the legendary World War II dive bomber takes a closer look at the history of the final production versions the Ju 87: the “Dora” – a dedicated dive bomber and strike platform and the Ju 87 G tank buster. In addition to combat histories of the front-line units that operated the types, the book presents profiles of some of the most prominent Stuka pilots. The text is supplemented by first-hand accounts of the men who flew the Ju 87s in combat, as well as a large selection of original photographs and 3D drawings offering a great insight into the intricacies of the aircraft’s design.”
The ‘D’ or perhaps ‘G’ models are arguable amongst the most interesting and eye-catching Junkers Ju 87 “Stuka” variants. The ‘G’ model in particular is my personal favourite with those two huge underwing BK 3.7 cannon – simply awesome firepower that must have been fearsome for anyone or anything on the receiving end.
Mark R has achieved stunning results modelling the type with his Ju 87G from the 1:32 Hasegawa model and you can find that in the Hasegawa pages of Finished Now.
This reference book is the perfect partner for any model build of the Junkers Ju 87, whatever your scale. Not only will the excellent 1:72 scale drawings be useful to modellers building in that scale, they will also be great for modelling the type in any scale.
Some of the strongest points of the book though are the impressive renders that show multiple aspects of the type – detail inside and out that can be used for general colouring and layout. Add to that the full colour profiles and this is starting to look like a great buy.
Highly recommended as are all the titles I have seen in this large and growing series from Kagero.
