Now to turn my attention to the tracks.
First up I have painted them a medium brown colour.
When dry I give these a wash with Mig’s dark wash.
Dry this with the hairdryer, keeping your distance as you don’t want to blow it out of the details. Then I rub a graphite pencil over the treads just highlighting the raised details. Then rub the graphite along the tracks by the guide horns as to represent wear from the wheels. Lastly I mixed up some thinner and pigment powders, keep this mixture thin and only use a tiny amount of pigments as they dry a lot more prominent looking than when they are wet. Vary the tones for a realistic look and build up in light coats. Keep this application random so as not to look too uniform as this would appear less natural.
Pigments were added to the wheels along with various washes to achieve a dirty look.
Some more applications of light well diluted pigment washes on the vehicle and it’s looking the way I want it to.
