The wing sweep mechanism
Next the wing sweep mechanism can be fitted into the upper rear fuselage section. Unlike the AMK and Tamiya kits the wing sweep pivots are not linked. This is not a big issue, care just has to be taken when positioning the wings to ensure their positioning is symmetrical. The wing gloves are designed to be removable and there are two sets included in the kit along with their associated PE detail. One set is for the wings in the forward position and one set for them when they are swept back. There are also two sets of wing glove bags which are also designed to be removable and are for the forward and swept back wing configurations. The video will explain this more clearly hopefully.

The front fuselage can then be attached to the rear section. This is always a good indication of the quality of the model and in this case it the fit is very good, not quite as good as the Tamiya fit but not far off it.
The final part of this stage of the build before the painting can begin is to replicate the rough walkways on the upper fuselage. The kit does provide decals for these but I prefer to mask the walkways off and use MIG Anti Slip fine paste. Once dry the masking can be removed and the paste sanded down to give it a less pronounced rough finish.
That’s all for this instalment of the build, the painting and decaling comes next.
