Some background info…
The 2010 RAF Hawk Display is provided by No 208(R) Squadron of Number 4 Flying Training School (4FTS) based at RAF Valley on Anglesey. The special display paint scheme celebrates 50 years since 4FTS moved to RAF Valley. No 4FTS is the only RAF Advanced flying training school for fast jet pilots and is thus the sole source of pilots for front line Operational Conversion Units. During the last 50 years at RAF Valley, 4FTS has trained over 5000 fighter pilots using the most advanced jet trainers available that have included the deHavilland Vampire T11, Folland Gnat T1, Hawker Hunter T7 and the BAE Hawk T1. 2010 marks a new era for 4FTS with the introduction of the new Hawk T2 and the establishment of the UK Military Flying Training System (MFTS) HQ at RAF Valley in a joint venture between the RAF and Ascent Flight Training.
