Our thanks to for supplying the review sample – www.alclad2.com
Alclad2 lacquer is well known to many scale modellers. They burst onto the scale modelling scene many years ago now with a range of ‘silver’ paints that seemed almost too good to be true – you could handle them, mask them and mix them to your heart’s content and still the paint stayed on the model. Their range has now exploded and many of their colours feature in the many reviews and builds here in Scale Modelling Now magazine.
So… enter one of their latest products – a white primer that also acts as microfiller – superb! The paint/filler is very thin of course, like the rest of the range of paints and primers, and is designed to be sprayed only.
I’ve carried out a test and this primer is excellent – lays down beautifully in smooth and even coats. You need to thoroughly shake the can of course and the small ball bearing inside helps to mix the paint.
White is ideal for undercoating many top colours, yellow and red being just two that I frequently use and so this product will be ideal.
Your airbrush will need to be cleaned thoroughly with a powerful cleaner like Sprayaway or one of the other solvent cleaners. Speaking of which, do make sure that you spray this primer and all paints like these in a well ventilated room using some kind of extraction hood/fan.
Recommended – now where is that yellow-nosed Bf-109E I was looking for?
