Review By: Paul Kirsopp
This review won’t follow the usual review format, as there’s no aircraft as such to give a history of!
So, with that in-mind, what do we have? Let’s start with the box. It’s a proper box with a very clear picture of the finished item. It’s not an exciting picture, but then what else could be done?
The kit is made up from one sprue of black plastic parts (cut in two), one instrument panel, two clear sprues, two etched frets, one sheet of printed instrument faces and the instructions. These are all well packed in their own plastic bags.
There’s about 100 black parts, including 36 screw heads. These are well moulded with nice sharp detail where needed.
The clear sprues are all the instrument glazing, with 28 parts.
You also have one sheet of twenty beautifully printed instrument faces, which are self adhesive:
There are also three etched frets with some really wonderful pre-painted detail:
Finally, we have the six- page instructions in Eduard’s usual clear, well-drawn style.
Painting the model should be quick and easy; use RLM 66 for the panel and black for the bezels.
Without meaning to administer the kiss of death, the model looks like it should go together easily, with only three switch panels to assemble. Everything else is built-up in layers directly on the panel.
For some strange reason this kit really appeals to me. I missed it when it first came out a while ago when, I think, it was part of a package with a Bf 110 model. I’m looking forward to making it and it’s sitting on the top of my ‘to do’ pile, as soon as I have first finished the current projects that are blocking my bench at the moment.
I paid £15.00 for the kit from an eBay trader, which I think is under the list price. I bought it on the Sunday evening and it arrived Tuesday! Not sure how you could get better service.
All in all this looks like a well thought-out kit of an unusual subject. All the parts are to a high standard and the kit is well presented; if it goes together well then this is close to being a 5-star item.
Recommended.
