Something to get you in the mood
Initial Assessment
Well, it’s finally here. After all this waiting and snippets of information from the company, the Eduard MiG-21MF is with us. Is it worth all the hype? We shall see…

Plastic
The first thing that strikes you when you open the box is the sheer quality of the sprues. The surface detail is incredibly refined and crisp. There is no flash at all and even the finest of details are beautifully rendered. There are a larger number of these sprues, some of them covered in tiny parts. I don’t normally enjoy construction so this may slow me down a bit, though that’s not a slight on the kit or Eduard at all, it’s just me and the way I work.
The clear parts are just lovely and crystal clear. There are multiple windscreens and canopies hinting at other versions, plus various instrument panels which I assume will be for the Weekend Edition (negative PE, resin and canopy masks) which will no doubt be released at some stage. There is also a clear bulkhead which may be for a 2 seat version.
There are various options to hang all sorts of stuff under the wings. These range from fuel tanks, air to air missiles and resin rockets which are just stunning.
Resin
There are quite a few resin bits here. A multi-part seat (with colour etch harness) is extremely well done and very finely moulded. The previously-mentioned rockets are also exquisite. You even get a spare pilot’s helmet to perch on the windscreen. Lovely.
