Decals
I just love the decal sheet! It contains markings for 5 different aircraft:
- 2nd flight, 1521st AB, Mary Airbase 1, Soviet Union, 1991-2.
- 85th GvIAP, Merseburg AB, Germany, 1991 (Soviet markings).
- Czech Republic Army Air Force, No1 Sqn, Zatec AB, 1993.
- No1 Sqn of the Tactical Air Force, CO’s jet, Poland, 2005-7.
- 11 Sqn, Iranian Air Force, Tehran-Mehrabad, 1990’s.
Also contained is pretty much every stencil you could ever need, with the majority of them all duplicated in a second colour depending on the final colour scheme. I didn’t count them, but I’m guessing this leads to a sheet with maybe 300+ individual markings on it, all legibly printed (if you speak Russian, I’m sure they’ll make sense). Nicely done Cartograph.
Instructions
Lastly, the instruction sheets are again of the typical high quality you would expect, printed in full colour on glossy paper, with a separate sheet for masking instructions and stencil placement.
Colour call-outs are provided all through the instructions, with reference being made to Gunze Sangyo Aqueous and Mr Color paints. Each colour profile leaves you with no confusion as to what goes where, with clear 4-view profiles per page. The only exception is for scheme E, where Eduard directs you to their website for the full profile.
Conclusion
Overall, this is a really attractive package, utilising probably the best 1:48th kit of the MIG-29 kit on the market and taking it to a completely different level, with the addition of all the extra goodies.
At £40 (give or take a few quid), it is also excellent value for money, with the original kit selling for roughly £20 on its own. Topped off with all the extras, this boxing should probably sell for nearer £80.
Well done Eduard, I really can’t wait to get cracking with this one.
