Initial Assessment
This is a special boxing of Special Hobby’s P-40F in 1:72, the special bit being that there are TWO complete kits!
The box art has colour profiles of the options included on the decal sheet and they are a nice mix of RAF and French aircraft in various schemes. However, these are mostly desert type camouflages which is a bonus for me as it gives me licence to do some pretty extreme weathering.

Quality
The models themselves are very nicely moulded with petit engraved detail on the airframe parts. They are limited run so there are no mounting plugs and the tail planes may need some help as they are simple butt joints.
The clear parts are nicely moulded and very clear but the windscreen and canopy come as a single piece and it’s quite thick, so if you want to show off the nicely detailed office you’ll have to get a vacform replacement or mould your own.
As I mentioned the cockpit detail is very nicely done for 1:72, though the wheel wells will need boxing in. The nose radiator parts are also well done.
The decals look very nice being in perfect register, bright solid colours and thin. We’ll see how they behave later.
Conclusion
In summary this looks to be at the top end of the limited run kit, but I am prepared for some filling and sanding to come during the build. All in all this looks like a very nice package and I am looking forward to getting started.
Recommended.
