Review by Bill Curtis (Feb 13)
Initial assessment…
I have been using oils for face painting for several decades but have tried the acrylic paints for this part of figure painting. The techniques are different and it takes some practice to master it. I had read and heard from others about this set so at Scale Model World I sought it out and bought the set.
This set from Andrea Miniatures comprises of six colours, 2 base, 2 shadow and 2 highlights. These can of course be intermixed to expand the range. Inside the box is a guide which shows how to apply the various paints.
Accuracy…
The colours look spot on to produce a face with the paints used straight from the bottle albeit with some thinning.
Quality…
Andrea is noted for the quality of their products and I know from people I have talked to who use this paint, this is no exception.
Instructions…
As stated earlier the painting guide is included and takes you through the placement of each colour which will produce a finished face even by a beginner and with practice this will improve with each subject completed.
Conclusions…
This is an out of the box review but I will be using this with figures for the next modelling project. From the paint, the photo application of the paints, this will make a very good set for flesh painting.
