Initial review by Geoff Coughlin (Sept 2012)
Our thanks to Martyn Dorey at MDP for kindly supplying our review samples. Get these and all manner of other great display and model-related products here now!
Note: We will be using these pigments in forthcoming builds here in your SMN, so keep an eye out to see how we find them… Geoff
A chance meeting with Martin at the recent excellent Sutton Coldfield scale model show in the UK produced a sample of the large range of great model-related products from this manufacturer. Martin had the kind of display stand that it’s impossible to ignore – just so many interesting, varied and different items that are of use to all us modellers. If you haven’t looked at the MDP range then you must – it’s expansive!
Pro-Pigments…
There seems to be an avalanche of new and varied weathering products coming onto the market and you’ll see new items from Lifecolor (available from The Airbrush Company) reviewed in this area of SMN shortly.
There is some great information about these pigments of the MDP website and you can read that here, but in the meantime we’ll get to work on using them in a couple of projects and see how it goes. Jamie H looks favourite to road-test them and so check out his forthcoming armour projects in particular to see what we think.
Initial impressions are definitely good – the pigments look extremely fine and mix well. Additionally the extensive range of some 16 colours allows for almost endless permutations to get variations you may be looking for.
