The accurate application of liquid plastic glue has always been a bit of a challenge, so the arrival of this product looks interesting.
Basically what you get is a long hollow tube with an open-end at the top for drawing up the plastic glue (Plastic Magic) and a needle applicator at the sharp end, which is used for applying the plastic glue exactly where you want it.
You can see the design from the images above and the step-by-step instructions on the back of the pack illustrate how to load the tube with a small amount of liquid glue for transferring it to where you want it on your model.
I found that getting the hang of this tool took some time and the loading fiddly, especially with your finger held on the sharp pointed needle end. It was ok, but not the most comfortable or easy to use tool I have ever used.
Nonetheless, the excess is touched off onto the side of the bottle and the glue applied where you need it. I thought that the glue might flood out, but not so, accurate placement was perfectly possible, which was pleasing.
Conclusion
This is a difficult one for me really.
I’ve asked another member of the team to take a look at this package, although they seemed to be struggling to see where they could use it. For me, I think that the applicator definitely has uses like car modelling as illustrated on the pack, when you need to be very careful of the surrounding area as in the wing and bonnet of a car where you certainly don’t want unnecessary cleaning up to do.
I mainly build aircraft models and I think there is less of a need for this kind of tool and armour modellers maybe even less because of their rough textures and often significant weathering used by armour modellers.
Recommended for some tasks that require precise application of plastic glue.
