This has to be the most welcome set for a long time from the Lifecolor range – Black Rubber Shades. Endless possibilities and applications for all scale modellers.
I am about to start painting the Night Black under surfaces of my Revell Halifax WWII heavy bomber and this new set will feature strongly in that process for sure.
Of course you will want to use this set for the multitude of rubber and ‘black’ areas that need to be painted on models like the tyres (unsurprisingly), track links/road wheels on AFV’s to mention but two.
Rubber is almost always a lighter grey that you might expect and, as black paint is far too dark, we need various tones of grey, which is why this set is so welcome; saving lots of time hunting for the ‘right’ shade of grey for our chosen model.
The six bottles of acrylic paint included are a great match for the major tones of grey seen on rubber and black painted surfaces. Specifically the colours included are:
- UA 731 Dirty Black
- UA 732 Vulcanized Rubber
- UA 733 Tyre Black
- UA 734 Worn Black
- UA 735 Deep Cockpit
- UA 736 Burned Black
These colours are designed to be hand and airbrushed and have good opacity and durability. Lifecolor thinner is recommended. The box back contains useful information on how to work with these good quality modelling paints, which is always useful.
We’ll certainly be looking for opportunities to try these colours out, with the Halifax the target model in the next couple of days.
I can see this set proving hugely popular with all scale modellers.
Highly Recommended.
