Initial Assessment
I have decided to review both of these boxes in the same location for convenience to you and also for me. The sets come with 6 colours in each in the now-familiar box, with front showing a tank and the colour swatches with both the RAL number and Lifecolor ref.
The sets contain the following items:
German WWII Tanks – Set 1
- RAL8020 Gelbbraun Base colour Africa 1942
- RAL7027 Sandgrau Disruptive pattern over Gelbbraun Africa 1942
- RAL8000 Gelbbraun Base colour Africa 1941
- RAL7028 Dunkelgelb Base colour 1943
- RAL8017 Rotbraun SchokoladenBraun Disruptive pattern over Dunkelgelb & Olivgrun
- RAP 6003 Olivgrun Disruptive pattern over Panzer Grau, Dunkelgelb, Rotbraun, Base colour 1944-45
German WWII Tanks – Set 2
- RAL7021 Panzergrau Schwarzgrau Base colour 1940-43
- RAL 7016 Anthrazitgrau Base colour 1939 with Signalbraun
- RAL 8002 Signalbraun Disruptive pattern over Dunkelgrau 1939
- RAL 7017 Dunkelbraun Disruptive pattern over Dunkelgrau
- RAL 8012 Rotbraun Red oxide primer base colour 1944-1945
- RAL 7008 Graugrun Khakibraun Disruptive pattern over Grunbraun Afrika 1941
Accuracy
The colours of the paints looks good to my chart, but this is a little subjective. When you paint and weather your favourite tank, all the colours change due to the weathering applied.
Quality
I like this paint range, as with a little water or Lifecolor thinner added, they spray really nicely and give a smooth finish with good colour and a quick drying time.
I find, as with all acrylics, the tip of the airbrush tends to clog but a paintbrush moistened with water applied every few minutes, depending on conditions and pressure, cleans it and allows you to continue.
I do leave my colours to dry for 24 hours to be safe and it pays off, but others do not do this and still get good results.
Instructions
The instructions for use are, as usual, on the back of the box in 4 languages with some no nonsense advice.
Conclusion
If German armour is your thing, get some of thse paints and try it out. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the results.
Highly Recommended.
