This set can be used with the complimentary Set 2 also for US Navy WWII vessels.
Initial Assessment
This set comes with 6 colours in the familiar box, with front showing the aft main guns on a WWII US Navy vessel and the colour swatches with both the authentic number and Lifecolor reference.
The set contains the following items:
- UA 619 Navy Grey 5
- UA 620 Light Grey 5 L
- UA 621 Ocean Grey 5 O
- UA 622 Dark Grey 5 D
- UA 623 Sea Blue 5 S
- UA 624 Deck Blue 20 B
Accuracy
The colours of the paints look good to my eye but this is a little subjective to say the least, as when you paint and weather your favourite US Navy vessel all the colours change due to the weathering applied.
Quality
I like this paint range, as with a little Lifecolor thinner added they spray really nicely and give a smooth finish with good colour and a quick drying time.
I find, as with all acrylics, the tip of the airbrush tends to clog but a paintbrush moistened with water applied every few minutes depending on conditions and pressure, cleans it and allows you to continue.
I do leave my colours to dry for 24 hours to be safe and it does pay off.
Instructions
The instructions for use are, as usual, on the back of the box in 4 languages with some no nonsense advice.
Conclusion
If US Navy WWII subjects is your thing, try some of these paints!
