What’s in the box?
Upon opening the box for the first time you are greeted by a very neat package including 8 grey plastic sprues and a clear sprue for the canopy, gun sight etc.
There is a well laid out instruction manual with colour callouts for Tamiya, Vallejo, Gunze, AK Real colour, Mission model paint and Ammo.
Also included is a medium sized etched fret, which has seatbelts, wiring harnesses, bomb fins and various other parts.
The detail on the sprues are something else, rarely do you see the level of detail on the cockpit parts included in an injection-molded kit. Included in the advanced kit is extra sprues which cover full open ’50 cal gun bays with ammo troughs with some nicely detailed ’50 belts!

Engine detail is also included in the advanced kit and engine cowls, which can be posed on or off, and another cool feature is actual detail inside the cowls, a nice touch indeed.
Included in the kit is pretty much everything that was hung off the bottom of the ‘Jug’.
Fuel tanks, rocket tubes and 500lb bombs are all taken care off and some excellent decals for all the armaments.

The separate stencils are arranged on the sheet by left, right, top and bottom view to make placing them much easier!
All decals are printed by Cartograf so you can guarantee they’ll work like a dream.
Summary
A lovely looking package which has a lot to live up to in the shape of the Tamiya P-47 Family.
So watch this space as I will build this kit and let you know if it is superior or inferior to the Tamiya stalwart.
