Problems
I spy a couple of problems straight away, both obviously issues with molding.
The upper wing surfaces have some crease marks, what caused this is a mystery to me but perhaps dirt in the mold or perhaps (and I’m no Sherlock Holmes) don’t they look like a thumb print?? In any case we’ll have some clean up work to do here with filler and some careful sanding to avoid disturbing the rivets. My crystal ball foresee’s a little re-riveting to be honest.
I’ll come to the fit in a moment, but while we are talking ‘problems’ take a look at the alignment of the panels on the underside of the forward fuselage halves (see gallery photos above).
The upper surfaces align perfectly, the underside is about 0.5mm out. Gonna have to have a long think about how to solve this one with minimal effort.
The wing leading edge-to-fuselage join/section is also too curved and this, again, will be tricky to correct. (Note from Geoff: I found this image on a website: The Blueprints.com and it may be useful to chack that wing shape, although I am always very wary of plans in terms of accuracy, but this line drawing looks pretty good to me – Geoff)
Transparancies
Clear parts are on a separate sprue GP.
My only comment here is a repeat from the F-35B kit review that the canopy clarity has to be seen to be believed, outstanding.
