We have reviewed a number of figure sets from Revell over the past couple of years and here we have another one.
What’s in the box then? And quality?
Two sprue trees, folded to get them in the box. These are not as good as some of the recent sets and from the date on the sprue tree date back around 30 years to 1980 – and I’m afraid it shows. The expressions and facial features are a case in point, not as well defined as other sets. Many of the figures have a mould seam and flash that will need to be carefully removed with a sharp scalpel and because the plastic has that soft ‘vinyl-feel’ to it this won’t be so easy but certainly possible.
The figures will come in handy given the large number of 1:72 and 1:76 armour kits that are now available and that these are moulded to 1:76, not 1:72 scale shouldn’t be too much of an issue for many.
The sheer number of figures will give you a lot of flexibility when it comes to creating your diorama or small Desert scene, with spares for other projects.
Instructions and colour painting guide
The box carries colour painting details with direct reference to Revell Color paints in their range. Sensible guidance is given to wash the sprue in warm soapy water to remove any grease and then they should be ready to go?
To be fair, this set of figures probably falls more into the toy or wargaming category than a scale modelling one.
