Evolution Airbrush
You could be forgiven for believing that only Iwata airbrushes and compressors are available these days and how wrong you would be! Many other great airbrushes exist and Little-Cars is a fantastic place to go to get some great, objective advice and so I urge you to speak to Paul if you are ever in the market for a new one.
Ok, so what have we go here…?
Well, this is an extremely well-engineered German airbrush that’s double-action – in case you aren’t sure, this means that the paint and air flow are operated from the trigger you can see on the top of the airbrush that pushes up and down and slides forward and backward.
The nozzle can easily be unscrewed for cleaning, as can the rear of the body where the needle is removed for cleaning too.
This airbrush also has a novel feature and that’s a ‘Stop’ screw and the rear end of the barrel (marked ‘M’ on the parts layout you can see in the photos). This is for adjusting the paint volume by screwing in and out and thereby locking the amount of paint flow at whatever level you wish.
The Evolution comes in a very nice yellow sturdy hard plastic box so you can find it easily as well as store the airbrush when not in use. Airbrushes are precision instruments and using mine a lot for projects in SMN and before has always given me a healthy respect for this fact and I always keep my airbrush on the compressor holder or in its box for safety.

Using the Evolution
I have been testing this airbrush for 3-4 weeks now and have to say that it works excellently – exactly as advertised. Action is smooth and precise when using with the trigger action being precise, delivering paint exactly when and where you want it.
I have tried enamels (Xtracolor) thinned with cellulose thinners and also alcohol-based acrylics (Tamiya Color and Gunze) as well as water-based acrylics (Lifecolor) and this airbrush performed flawlessly with each type.
You even get a DVD!
This is a very useful bit of kit because you see all of the important features demonstrated on the Evolution series of airbrushes. It’s particularly useful for anyone new to airbrushing or wanting to see demonstrations of the airbrushes in action.
Conclusion
Really impressed – I will continue to use this new airbrush over the weeks and months and we can see how it performs over the medium and longer term but I have no hesitation in wholly recommending it to you now.
