The need to add weight to models has always been there and the issue is especially acute for aircraft modellers that need to stop their models that feature a nose wheel from tail-sitting!
Over the years I have largely used lead air gun pellets and also fisherman’s weights, but often the space available to add any weight is limited. Enter Liquid Steel pellets…
As you can see from the photo, this product consists of a plastic bottle containing lots of small metal pellets that can be poured into the area you want to add weight to and is much more flexible than the above options – especially on smaller-scale models.
Modellers have many ways of securing weight like this: epoxy resin, cyano and plasticine are all commonly used. Take care when using cyano, especially if using an activator (accelerator/kicker) as this will generate heat that can actually melt the plastic if used in excess.
Overall then a great product that you will always be able to keep handy.
