A short update this time, well it is summer time and it has been very hot in my workroom!
I have been putting the Pontos supplied railings on the pom pom deck. I pre-painted some and will paint the rest in due course. Most of the ship’s boats go on this deck so there is not much room to put any further details. I have also just started weathering this with different filters and will pick out the details in due course. There are also three more pom poms and two cranes to go on this deck, busy!
Apart from the foremast this is almost ready to be mated to the hull with some minor touch ups to do. This is a pretty savage close-up and if it nearly passes this in real size it is not too bad !
There are quite a few reels to make up. Some look like fire hoses and some rope. I chose this method of making them (in this case the fire hoses). A fine length of brass wire (thanks Geoff and Albion Alloys) was inserted through the side of the Pontos frame for the reel. Then the reel end was placed onto the wire. I prepared a length of hollow plastic tube by wrapping lead wire around it and the cutting it to the correct length for the reels. The brass wire was then fed through the other end piece of the reel and then the frame.
