Oerlikons
There are only another 10 to do now! I have set myself a task of restricting the build of these to 2 per day, seems to work for my sanity.
This pic shows the line up. The instructions are quite good for their assembly. But I have been looking at the magazine for the ammo and thinking that it doesn’t look right. In fact I looked at a couple of builds and all of them have empty ammo mags!
Like this.
A very simple addition I made was to cut the tiniest slither of plastic rod and place it into the gap and the magazine is solid. Mind you I think I am noticing all this because I am photographing it all in super close up, warts and all!
Here is the final result before the spray gun blows them all away!
Funnel and rear director station
Have started on these little models…they are not finished as yet. I have thrown out the lip at the top of the funnel with all the other sprue pieces so will have to make a new one. The fret work (?) at the top was tricky but the fact that all the parts are slotted makes it much easier to assemble.
I have put in some fixing points for stays in case they are necessary. The problem with the Warspite is that there are so few close ups of the ship after its final refit and I don’t know, as yet, if this was rigged.
I just need to clean it up a bit. The instructions are clear for the funnel.
The rear director tower is a bit of a pig to put together accurately as there are no slots that retain the parts whilst you are fixing them together (I am referring to the kit here). The Pontos stuff goes on very well.
