So there it is…
What did I think of the build? Well I don’t know an awful lot about these boats. They are purposeful looking and well-armed and have a lot of deck fittings. The problem with the model for an average modeller is that the instructions are difficult to follow to say the least.
Two things would be helpful:
- Each stage of the build should be well-photographed and printed clearly and of a suitable size. Otherwise maybe stage-by-stage drawings may be better
- It would be very helpful if three full length photos of the completed model (as supplied in the box) could be attached to the plans.
The result is an attractive version of the Fairmile and I feel it was worth building. I feel that the model requires experience in handling multi-media. I feel Coastal Craft supply kits for Naval enthusiasts who want (and get) products that are not available that readily. And these enthusiasts are ready to meet model making challenges.
