The Hull continues…
It was time for more work on the hull. Alclad primer/filler was used to see off the scuffs etc on the bridge and hull. Then, more filler and more sanding to do.
As you can see below, there is still a little more work to do but this is all part of the enjoyment of a good resin product like this.
Guns – the ‘Vickers Tub’
I show the instructions above just to clarity a couple of small matters. It is not clear how much of the casting block to remove on these parts.
For the tub itself, I have left a small lip at the bottom just to sit it comfortably on the deck. From the seat, I removed almost all of it. This allows it to seat low down in the tub.
The two Vickers have a casting block that is almost integrated into the weapons themselves. Very careful sawing and sanding is needed here, as there is almost nowhere to hold the part.
Unfortunately, I snapped the gun sight bar. This, fortunately, is an easy repair. When done, the guns are very delicately moulded and should come up very well with some cleaning and paint.
The Oerlikon is nicely done. Again, the instructions are not clear about the casting block.
Most of it should be removed leaning a shallow lip at the bottom for it to sit on the deck, not as shown in the instructions…
But as…
Finally, I did a little more cleaning of the bridge/wheelhouse in preparation for another coat of filler/primer.
Onto the Oerlikon…
