Finally the 4 inch gun assembly was built up, you use the basic gun assembly but replace the base and the entire gun shield assembly with Eduard etch. This builds really well but due to size of parts is quite small, when the basic shield is folded into shape the interior supports have to be fitted before attaching the gun assembly. You’ve also got the hatch panels on the front of gun shield. This all fits swimmingly however Eduard have produced the gun aperture in the front of shield to scale and sadly the Revell gun barrel is slightly too wide in diameter. I simply cut the offending gun section away and replaced it with plastic rod of correct diameter, you can’t be rough with this assembly has its quite fragile, it looks amazing for scale cross referencing with archive pictures of gun mount. The blast bag at the base of barrel where it protrudes from shield was made from blu-tack putty, simply softened and sculpted into shape and left.
