Closing thoughts
This build turned into a bit of a disappointment for me as being a new tooling I thought Revell would have produced a good kit being as at same time they had just released some 1:48th scale aircraft kits that reviewers were raving over about their fit of parts and level of detail etc. That is sadly not the case with this model, there’s the gap at the end of the foredeck that doesn’t reach the top of the step bulkhead, the missing wooden deck plating on open bridge part. Then there’s Eduard’s etch sets which were the only game in town when I started this build and they are OK but could have been a lot better, they don’t put a replacement etched wooden deck for the bridge in any of their sets. The instructions were at best a little vague as to where some parts went on their instruction sheets and finally the inclined ladders have proper flat runs not pokey efforts that they put on their parts.
I already have another one of these kits to build for someone but I’m not using Eduard’s parts I’ll use either L’Arsenal or Starling Models detail sets for the model. I’m a little disappointed with kit with its mistakes and omissions I really expected better from Revell, that’s not to say I don’t like the model and wouldn’t build another.
