Last time the majority of the hull parts were attached in place, now I’m going to concentrate on the painting and weathering of the hull and ready use depth charges and ship’s boats.
To start the ball rolling all of above parts were primed, I used ordinary Tamiya XF-19 Sky Grey, once dry I sprayed XF-9 Hull Red along rough area of waterline of hull and below. This was shaded using a lighter shade of XF-9 mixed with XF-2 Flat White.
After drying overnight the waterline was carefully masked so that the first of the upper hull colours could be applied. The colour was XF-2 Flat White, and this was spray shaded onto the hull, ready use depth charges and ship’s boats, you don’t want a solid white application.
Next, more masking the pale green and blue panels were marked out with masking tape including the top of the funnel. For the Pale Green I used XF-21 Sky and Pale Blue XF-23 Light Blue. These were applied and shaded using a lighter mix of base colour.
