Quality
The kit quality is just what you expect from the more recent Eduard releases. The parts are all flash free and the sprue gates are nice and small so reducing the chance of any plastic scaring. In addition the panel lining and rivet detail are both crisp and subtle but not to subtle as to be obliterated by a couple of layers of paint. The clear parts are well produced and crystal clear with no obvious flaws.
The colour photo etch allows you to produce an accurate and very impressive cockpit with the need to have the eyes of a hawk and the steadiness of hand of a surgeon!!
Instructions and decals
Without doubt these are the star of the kit. They are printed on high quality paper and the build sequence is clearly and unambiguously laid out. There is a nice history of the aircraft on the front cover and the final 5 pages give you full colour three view drawings of each version along with a final page that details the stencilling layout.
The decals are also well produced by cartograf and are in perfect register and appear to be nice and thin. Having previously used Eduard’s decals on an Fw 190 F-8 build they settled down perfectly and I expect nothing less from these.
Initial Conclusion
This has been a much anticipated kit and in my opinion Eduard has produced the goods. There are issues with the shape but I think they are minor and for the majority of modellers who want to build a reasonably accurate rendition of a Dora this will be the kit of choice.
Overall highly recommended and I can’t wait to get going on mine.
