Our thanks to Dennis Deagle for supplying some great cockpit shots of the Corsair. Thanks Dennis.
A note from Dennis:…
The cockpit images were taken at the Edmonton Municipal Airport July 30,2010. The aircraft belongs to a private collector somewhere in Quebec (near Ottawa) and is attached to Vintage Wings of Canada. Although actually an FG-1D, the aircraft is painted and marked up as the F4U-1D flown by Lt. Hampton Gray, VC, DSO. I see the wings are not clipped as in my understanding of RN Corsairs – the aircraft was restored in the USA, the ghosts of the stars in the stars and bars could be made out.
