Full Review with Dave Coward
Background…
You may have noticed in the Sc-Fi review section that I have now built a couple of these BanDai kits as firstly they are really nice simple builds that give a great finished result and secondly, I like Star Wars models!!
Have a look at my in-box review to see what’s in the box.
Having done the Tie Fighter, B-wing and the X-wing from the original movie it was only right that I should add Darth Vader’s Advanced Tie to my growing Star Wars collection. The Advanced Tie is a modification to the basic Tie Fighter that I have already built and some of the parts are common but with a new rear fuselage and wings.
Construction…
This kit was built straight out of the box with no aftermarket as there is no requirement in my opinion for any, its great as it is.
My build process for these models is to paint them up as individual components first and then assemble these together. The kit is designed to snap together without the need for glue as you will see in the video but I did go back and glue most of the parts just because I felt I had to as it was a plastic model!!
Rather than explain the build process I’ll let the video do this.
VIDEO DEMO
The kit comes with a nice base and stand, as is standard with these BanDai kits and they really set off the model. There are also clear plastic ‘laser beams’ which actually look quite good one the model when it’s placed on its stand.

Summary
Overall, I just think that these kits are great. The fit is perfect, assembly is quick and easy, surface detail is superb and they are buildable by all age groups and skill levels. The only downside can be the cost and in some cases such as this kit their availability.
Not a lot more I can say except if you like Star Wars you need to get these kits and try them yourself!!
