Here’s a quick look at the finished model…
And just before we move on, if you like the subject do check out another build of the kit we have from Daniel Baxter.
Background
Nautilus is the fictional submarine belonging to Captain Nemo featured in Jules Verne’s novels Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas (1870) and The Mysterious Island (1875). Verne named the Nautilus after Robert Fulton’s real-life submarine Nautilus (1800). For the design of the Nautilus, Verne was inspired by the French Navy submarine Plongeur, a model of which he had seen at the 1867 Exposition Universelle, three years before writing his novel.

Construction
The construction starts with the main cabin and removing the roof plastic panels. This allows the PE grills to be fitted which will allow the LED lights to light up the interior. The cabin parts were all painted up and then assembled. The finished item is really quite nice with a seating area, a organ, a globe and book shelves. In hindsight I would have tried to source some figures for this area, possibility model railway figures for anyone doing this model in the future?
The bridge is predominately PE built up on the kit base. Again, this is quite nice but even with this area lit up very little of it can be seen on the finished model.
