Outer wing sections
Here you can see these sections joined and again secured with plenty of cyano glue. There are two semi-clear resin inserts to add and these fitted ok with a little trimming. One was slightly damaged but still usable and so I’ve decided to add a small amount of battle damage in that area to disguise it – more of that later.
You’ll see that there is a prominent join line along the wings as there is around some sections of the main body of the vessel. Look carefully because some of these you don’t need to clean up and fill as they’ll be covered (by the separate outer forward sections in the case of the main body). Others though, like these wings and the separate ventral ‘wing’ or ‘tower’ that drops down from the underside front of the vessel are trickier to clean up and eliminate. I decided that I’d clean up as best as I can and due to the detail around the edges of the wings filling isn’t an easy option and I think it’s easier to disguise the joins by replacing small panels and adding some detail here and there. The final affect should look a lot more pleasing and save time. We’ll see… although I’m confident it will :)
Photos: The ship is definitely coming together now – after just a few hours at the bench
Photos: Here’s an example of what I mean by disguising the heavy joins – metal foil and Tamiya masking tape take care of the join and should look a little more refined when the ship is painted and weathered.
