Check out the videos that follow to see how it all goes!
OK, the base greens are on and now we need to start adding some extra markings to break up the surface and add more interest to the finished model. I decided that some yellow ‘warning’ areas near the power plants should work and using Tamiya XF-4 Yellow Green (also a great match to represent Zinc Chromate Yellow on many ofmy aircraft projects) I sprayed this to random pre-masked sections.
As you can see, the effect is building nicely (well, I think so :)! If you look carefully, you’ll see some paint chipping around the forward outer bulged sections of the ship. Some of the paint lifted when I removed the Tamiya masking tape – entirely my fault as I missed a couple of areas when washing down the model before painting.
This gave me the idea that I could further add interest by painting these forward areas a complimentary dark grey, thinned well and leaving some of the chips visible to create a more weathered effect. Very early days yet on this with some more work todo but I didn’t want to pass upan opportunity to work with what presented itself:).
