To create the chips, a damp brush is scrubbed over the surface, keeping it wet. Eventually the water will dissolve the top layer of paint revealing the base coat. The chips can be touched up with some suitable acrylic coloured paint with a brush or sponge.
Weathering
Now for the washes. The first wash is a dark wash to highlight the raised detail and for this I used AK Interactive’s enamel Wash for Panzer Grey vehicles. After that is dry, the rust is applied. AK Interactive’s Light Rust Wash is touched into the detail and then the excess is cleaned up with a clean brush moistened in white spirit. A vertical motion will create a nice rusty streaking effect.
