Feature build: Christian Ward
A little about the kit:
After checking the history of this kit on Scalemates, I found out that Revell have re-boxed the Fujimi tooling of this model, to which I have heard needs a little extra work here and there.
Truth be told, upon opening the box and checking the parts on the sprues, they were all very clean and hardly any tidy up to do which was nice.
So this subject is far from what I am used to building as I am more geared towards the Japanese market for car manufacturers and as for motorsports, I was more interested in events such as rallying or touring cars, such as the BTCC or DTM, the 90s especially, so I don’t really know too much about the subject history. I have however since starting this kit, done some research on YouTube, and the Porsche 917 KH with its flat-12 engine, not only does it look incredible with its sleek flowing body lines, it also has the aggressive sounds to match such exterior beauty.
The build
So first off, as with every build, I like to separate the body parts, chassis parts and interior parts into three groups and start working with the bodywork.
On this kit, there are several vents that require filling, and the kit comes provided with some parts on the sprues to fill these gaps, so once they have been cemented in place, applying some Revell plasto filler (as recommended by the local model club members) was used over the seam lines for these added parts.
